David felt terror overtake him. It only lasted a few seconds,

and then Neal’s arms enveloped him and David felt calm

again. It was strange how Neal’s touch soothed him. It also

hit him full blast that just at the moment he realized his life

might be ending, he’d found his soul mate. “I want to make

our last moments count, Neal.”

“What?”

David realized he’d spoken so quietly Neal hadn’t

understood him. He turned to face Neal and kissed him.

After opening several doors, they encountered a couple in a
